About

My name is Nick Dorsey. I’m an Arkansan who was saved by God’s grace in high school, called to gospel ministry in college, went to Kentucky for seminary and found a wife, and I live in Indiana with my wife and daughters now. I am the youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour, IN and oversee 180 Student Ministry.

180 Student Ministry exists to glorify God through student discipleship. Our goal is to be a ministry that equips students to know and grow in Christ and equips parents to lead in that endeavor. As the local church and parents walk hand in hand, our hope is that students in our ministry and our community will find Christ to be the greatest joy and satisfaction in life.

Our name is 180 Student Ministry because we believe that an encounter with the heart transforming, mind renewing, soul satisfying gospel of Jesus Christ changes everything. It sets a believer on a new path and a new direction in this life and beyond. The difference between a heart that loves the world and the self and one that beats for God’s glory is truly the difference between life and death. Our desires and affections change and we begin to think God’s thoughts after Him as our minds are renewed by His word. There truly is a 180 degree shift in our lives because our lordship has been replaced by Jesus’.

We want to say with Paul in Philippians 3:7-11,

But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss becasue of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith- that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
